I choose Indy four years ago, not by choice, and find it, as I have found Indiana for over a combined fifteen plus years now, an easy place to live that leans conservative and is usually around to getting things done, at least somethings…… Unlike the east coast - Washington D.C., where we arrived here from, and where things are always getting done…..more, when one says they will get done, they do get done and often before deadline…… never after……at least not twice. Most Midwestern folks do not quite “get this” and it drives me, an Indy transplant, insane!
All things aside, Midwestern or not - which I am born and bred Badger Boy here! - I learned early and try to practice often the idea and behavior that if I look you in the eye and tell ya I’m going to do something….I am, and if I am not or cannot - I’ll let ya know….before you expect it - which I’ve grown to learn here “back home” is often a week or so past the time promised……
I drove I-70 from East to West from one side of of Indy to the other at 5:20ish a.m. a few Saturday mornings ago and mentioned to a friend later that day that at 5:30 in the morning it looked like Indy was growing up….lots of activity, clean, people out and about, etc., etc…..I smiled as I took it all in and began to wonder if perhaps after almost five years now, I could call this place home……….and then the moment passed….
