Official Coffee House of I Choose Indy?

I’m not looking to start a fight :), but I hope you don’t mind if I write a post about the best hidden secret in Indianapolis. The Corner Coffee shop on 251 E. 11th St. is the home of some great coffee, great food, and great people:

Corner Coffee
251 E. 11th St.
Indianapolis, IN
Phone: (317) 916-9805

This is a coffee shop like you see in a TV commercial or would find out West (dare I say). Pat Coyle and I had lunch there on Monday to talk some more about how we could help Indianapolis grow organically, through I Choose Indy! and beyond. As a technologist here in town, I really do want to make a difference. As a citizen, I think it’s somewhat my duty as well.

Anyways, I digress. I sat and did some work online while I waited for Pat. Pat had the last bowl of homemade soup for the day… he drove all the way from the West Side and said it was great. I had their new veggie sandwich, The Beachcomber, and it was fantastic.

If you get a chance, stop over there. They won’t know about I Choose Indy! and probably won’t know Pat or me… but tell them we sent you anyways. We’ve had a history there… that went back to when Pat, Darrin, and I worked together. We used to go there often. (I even beat Darrin at a game of chess there once!)

You can relax on the couch with a nice latte or bowl of soup, surf the web, or have some quiet conversation. Corner Coffee may be the coolest little cafe in the city… and, no, it’s not in BroadRipple.

Oh, and if you’re in the need for some incredible graphics work, stop in next door and say hi to Stephen at Hot Bed Creative. They’re so busy, they still have the same site up that they did 2 years ago that says a new one is coming! There’s a good reason why they’re so busy.

Try the “Nutty Bird” or the “Villager” veggie rollup. My two favorites. and ALWAYS get the soup. Be prepared to slow down. Hipness takes its time. Deal with it.

Thank you so much for the many kind words. My husband, uncle and I just bought the place in July. It is so nice to here good things being said about my favorite little place in town too. Keep coming back and let us know who you are. The greatest employees and I appreciate all the good vibe that our customers stir up for us. Now that I am about to cry I will change the subject. I want to let you know that my friend in D.C. found this and sent to me. This is a great thing you are doing! Keep it up.

This place is the bomb. I am the host of their Thursday night poetry night. Every week, we gather and throw out words and I think to myself that this is the spot where all people should come. It’s very much what one would picture in a coffee house. I am so glad that you are spotlighting this wonderful establishment.

Hey Cheri, This is Jeff, owner of Lazy Daze, its good to hear things are going well for you. We share alot of the same customers and I am always hearing excellent things about you and the Corner Coffee. Keep up the good work.

Well, we at Hotbed Creative have always been partial to Corner Coffee…and not because it is two doors down for those creative re-juicing binges, either. I agree, Pat: the Nutty Bird rules.

BTW, the Hotbed Creative web site is no longer “on the back burner.” It’s actually live, Doug. We’re still busy as heck, just a kick in the pants by my new biz dev guy (did I mention that Harvard degree, Pat?).

Unfortunately, Corner Coffee has moved out, with no word as to where they’re going to reopen. WAAAH! I miss my Corner Coffee and $10 pounds of whole bean!!

Cheri and Dave, please open soon!!

I’m bummed! I heard about this through “The Bean Cup” owners. Try out “The Bean Cup” when you get a chance and you’re southside! They’re off of Country Line and US31 just North of the Mall in the strip mall next to the Sparkling Car Wash.

We need to keep the private coffee houses alive!

I love Noble Coffee in Noblesville, right off of main in the downtown area.

They have bumper stickers stating, “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drink Starbucks.”

Of course, I am a sbucks junky so I don’t agree, but it’s still funny.
